Dear Korea CQ members, I hope you are having a wonderful day. On September 19, Korea CQ watched the ‘Feted French Pianist David Fray x Sejong Soloists; Bach and Beyond’ Performance at the Seoul Arts Center.
The Bach specialist pianist David Fray, who is often compared to the late Glenn Gould, collaborated with Sejong Soloists in this performance to present works by Bach and composers who admire him.
Described by the press as a ‘poet’ and ‘the most original Bach player of his generation,’ David Fray is known throughout the world for his recital, chamber music, and orchestral appearances and has performed at the most distinguished concert halls and festivals.
‘Bach and Beyond’ featured masterworks by J.S. Bach, Beethoven, and for contrast of style and texture, ‘Murmurs in the Mist of Memory,’ ab evocative multi-movement work by Augusta Read Thomas, a distinguished American composer. Inspired by poems about light by Emily Dickinson, the piece was commissioned for Sejong Soloists.
Hailed as ‘one of the top ensembles of today’ by CNN, Sejong Soloists has performed over 500 concerts on major stages in over 120 cities across four continents.
CQ members admired the autumn night full of Bach melody by David Fray and Sejong Soloists.
