On August 29th, Korea CQ visited the 'Theatre des Lumieres' at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul.
H.E. Antoine Azzam, Sandro Azzam, Brian Payne, Colleen Payne, Jinwoo Park, Ian Jeong, Joseph Young, Jackie Son, James Park, Crystal Park, Choi Jungwha, and Didier Beltoise attended this forum.
Everyone gathered at the 'Lounge de Coloris' café, overlooking the Han River, where they met Jinwoo Park, the CEO of Tmonet and head of Theatre des Lumieres, and Sung-jae Yoo, the director of Theatre des Lumieres.
Before the exhibition, we were briefed on Walkerhill and the current exhibition. The immersive media art exhibition hall 'Theatre des Lumieres' combines IT and cultural content, and requires high-level IT operations. With the technological expertise and infrastructure of Tmonet, this exhibition was planned with utmost detail.
Theatre des Lumieres offers an artistic experience where one is entirely immersed in the moment through a fusion of artwork and music. Upon entering the exhibition hall, the audience can immerse themselves in the masterpieces and grand music through numerous projectors and speakers.
The first exhibition showcased was 'Dali: The Endless Enigma.' This immersive artwork, featuring Pink Floyd's iconic album 'The Dark Side Of The Moon,' felt like stepping into Salvador Dali's bizarre and astounding world. Salvador Dali, born in Figueres, Spain, was a surrealist artist who was greatly influenced by Freud's interpretation of relaity and dreams. He began to depict his dreams on canvas, obsessively portraying his inner world as seen in his dreams, teetering between reason and irrationality throughout his life.
After experiencing Dali's exhibition, we visited 'The Studio,' a space dedicated to experimental works, where we saw Niels Prayer's 'The Other Garden.' The studio space is completely isolated within the exhibition hall with thorough soundproofing, providing a tranquil atmosphere to enjoy experimental works separate from the main show.
We then explored the unique world of Antoni Gaudi's architectural marvels through the show 'Gaudi, architect of imagination,' characterized by hyperbolic arches, undulating facades, inclined columns, and organic patterns. Gaudi, revered as one of the most ingenious and unique architects of the 20th century, incorporated inspiration from nature into his architecture, favoring curves over straight lines. Despite the eccentric appearance, he prioritized 'gravity' in building design, creating structurally exceptional architectural wonders.
After concluding the exhibition tour, we moved to the theater's VIP room for a briefing on Theatre des Lumieres by Jinwoo Park and Sung-jae Yoo, followed by a Q&A session. Tmonet also specially prepared 'MZ lunchboxes' for dinner, concluding our visit on a delightful note.
We sincerely thank CEO Jinwoo Park for inviting us to enjoy the Theatre des Lumieres. We also extend our gratitude to the members who attended and Crystal Park for her interpretation help.
