Dear Korea CQ Members, On January 14th, the 16th Korea Image Awards, CICI Korea 2020, was held by the Corea Image Communication Institute (CICI) at the COEX InterContinental Hotel. We would like to share the precious and vivid moments of the event which attracted much interest with all the CICI Supporters. More than 600 foreign and Korean opinion leader and influencers gathered for this year Korea Image Awards ceremony making it a resounding success.  CJ Group Chairman Sohn Kyung-shik, JoongAng Holdings Chairman Hong Seok-Hyun, H.E. Simon Smith, H.E. Koji Tomita, H.E. Eric Teo Boon Hee, H.E. Bader Mohammad Ibrahim Al-Awadi, Ambassador for Public Diplomacy Chang Jae-bok, KOCIS Director Kim Tae-hoon, PMC Production CEO Song Seung-hwan, Gangneung International Film Festival Organizing Committee Chairman Kim Dong Ho, SKT Executive Vice President Yoo Young-Sang, Billboard’s K-Pop Columnist Jeff Benjamin, Jazz Vocalist Nah Youn Sun, Choi Jungwha and Didier Beltoise took a picture at the photo zone.  CICI President Choi Jungwha gave a brief introductory greeting at the beginning of CICI Korea 2020. The US ambassador H.E Harry Harris then gave congratulatory remarks to celebrate the beginning of the New Year.  SKT was awarded the Korea Image Stepping Stone Award for its contribution to promote a positive image of Korea to the world by being the first to commercialize 5G.  The Korea Image Stepping Stone Bridge Award was given to Billboard’s K-Pop Columnist Jeff Benjamin for his contribution to promote Korea to the world by introducing Korean music artists such as BTS and PSY.  Last but not least, Jazz Vocalist Nah Youn Sun received the Korea Image Fire Stone Award for being a global artist resonating with the audience and spreading the Korean culture through her unique music based on Korean emotions.  Before the dinner, toasts were offered by CJ Group Chairman Sohn Kyung-shik, JoongAng Holdings Chairman Hong Seok-Hyun, Public Diplomacy Ambassador Chang Jae-bok, KOCIS Director Kim Tae-hoon and British Ambassador H.E. Simon Smith.  While enjoying a special Korean dinner, the guests had a joyful time thanks to auctioneer Joseph Young, CEO of AP&G Engineering, and the teaser lucky draw. Congratulations to the winners!  After dinner, the guests listened to a performance consisting of a guitar and traditional instruments by the guitarist Kwon Chung-Goo and the Verdiani Ensemble. The performance resonated with every guest in the room.  Followed Nah Youn Sun’s congratulatory jazz performance. She sang “Asturias”, “Avec le temps” and “Besame Mucho”. Everyone gave her a big round of applause for her soulful performance!  We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to CICI supporters for making CICI Korea 2020 such a success. Thanks to your presence at the event, on the SNS and thanks to the in-depth coverage by the media, CICI has attracted even more attention. We will work even harder to promote Korea’s Image to the world. We also would like to thank every participant and we will do our best to make next year's CICI Korea 2021 a rich and enjoyable event. |
