On June 4,  Korea CQ Summer Welcoming Alumni Gathering was held at the French Ambassador's Residence. 

 


CQ members dressed in Blue and White, the dress code of the evening, arrived on time and had time to catch up with each other.

The gathering started with a welcoming speech by professor Choi Jungwha, president of CICI, followed by the welcoming speech by French Ambassador, H.E. Fabien Penone.

 


 
Then, participants watched a short video clip on “2019 CICI Activities” so that members could look back at the enjoyable memories and see what CICI supporters and Korea CQ members did to promote Korean culture to the world.
 
Also, CICI announced the results of the Survey on Korea’s Image conducted between March 25 and May 24.

Si-hyuk Bang, the founder of Big Hit Entertainment and creator of BTS, was selected as the No. 1 ‘creator’ that comes to mind, and BTS was selected as the No.1 Korean who people want to meet, which shows the interest in K-Pop increased globally due to BTS's performance.

The survey also indicated that Korean IT devices are still going strong in the international market, as people think of IT devices for No.1 Korean product that comes to mind.

We then commenced the award ceremony to recognize those who passionately participated in and supported Korea CQ forums and CICI's activities.

Seonhee Kim, President of Maeil Dairies was awarded the Korea CQ Cooperation Award. Joohyun Ha, CEO of NAOS Korea, was awarded the Korea CQ Friendship Award. Last but not least, Wonho Park, Chairman of DI Corporation was awarded the Korea CQ CICI Supporters Award. Congratulations to all of the awardees.

After the award ceremony, members had time to watch the farewell videos of H.E. Yip Wei Kiat, Singaporean Ambassador and Patrick Defranoux, President & CEO of Thales Korea and Nathalie Defranoux who have been members of Korea CQ for a long time and shared many memories.

 

After watching the farewell videos, members enjoyed the delicious dinner that H.E. Fabien Penone kindly prepared for the evening. 
 
We then shared good news of CQ Members and CICI supporters and congratulated each other’s wonderful news.
 
Through the Korea CQ Quiz Night, we could feel the members’ passion towards Korea CQ Forums and their affection for culture. After the heated rounds Ms. Jaeeun Park, Director of ODE Maison, became the winner of the quiz night.
 



Following the Quiz Night, participants played “Guess the Silhouette” game where each team had to guess what the given image behind the silhouette is. Members were separated by tables into five teams, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Purple and participated in the game very passionately. After the heated rounds, Dr. James Park’s Blue Team won the “Guess the Silhouette” game. 
 
Next, participants played the “Guess the Music” game where each team had to guess the song from hearing brief music. Members listened very carefully to the music and then quickly shout out the answer. The winner of the “Guess the Music” game was Mr. Jaewook Lee’s Yellow Team.
 
The Blue and Yellow team that won the game were given ‘Biotics(100 Billion) Makgeolli’ sponsored by Mr. Sang Min Bae, Managing Director at KookSoonDang, as a reward.
 
 


 
After the game, we watched the video which was made with gratitude to H.E. Fabien Penone, French Ambassador for helping us to hold the event. 
 
Then we had time to introduce the CICI upcoming programs of the second half of 2019 to first half of 2020. 

 


The best dressers of the day were Mr. Do Won Seol, Advisor of Korea Chainstores Association and Mrs. Marina Suanova, Spouse of Russian Ambassador who fit perfectly with the Blue and White dress code.
 
Lastly, participants had lucky draw time. Congratulations to all the winners.
