Greetings from CICI.
This email is to share an epilogue from the Korea CQ 16 Graduation & Year-end Alumni Night at the French Ambassador residence on November 26. H.E. Jerome Pasquier, a Korea CQ alumni and the Ambassador of France to Korea invited all our CQ members to his residence. He kindy prepared the buffet dinner arranged with Novotel Ambassadors Hotel for members.
Despite the gloomy weather yesterday, all guests arrived safely and had a small chat time with champaign prior to the party. The party started with CQ 16 graduation and an award ceremony. Mr. Jean-Manuel Spriet received the diploma on behalf of the Korea CQ 16 members.
H.E. Jerome Pasquier, the Ambassador of France was awarded with the Korea CQ Culture Award, and Mr. Martin Tricaud received the "Must Rejoin" award.
Furthermore, Mr. Mark CHUNG received the Bol Mae Award (meaning the more you look at him, the more charming he is),
and Mr. Joris Dierckx received the Korea CQ Award. Congratulations again to all of the awardees! After the award ceremony, our members enjoyed the buffet dinner and joined the Korea CQ Quiz contest.
It was time to test our members how well they understood what they learned about Korea and activities they participated in during the CQ 16 program.
After the Quiz time, the highlight of the day was definitely The Talent Showcase. Mr. PARK Moo-jong started off with the song 'It's now or never' by Elvis Presley. It is not at all exaggerated to say that his singing resembled Elvis Presley so much, and Mr. Park had a great stage etiquette too.
Next singer was Mrs. Susan Ling. Her song was 'Yi Yang di Yue Gwang(一樣的月光)'. As she was once a vocalist, her singing was still so beautiful and powerful to surprise the audience. Mr. Eugene BANG is known for owning more than 100 instruments. He played the native American flute with the music 'First Snowfall' by Mark Holland.
He also performed the saxophon for the piece, 'Loving you' by Kenny G. His passion and talent for music were so remarkable. Mr. Mark CHUNG who recently received a new nickname, 'the Youth of Korea CQ'. The young Mr. Chung sang the song 'In My Life' by Beatles.
He shared his special personal memories about the song and his affection toward CICI and CQ members. Mr. Christophe Piganiol expressed his pleasure to be at the French Abassador's Residence as a French person before singing the song 'I Love Paris' by Frank Sinatra.
Soon he changed his clothes to perform his small musical 'If I Were a Rich Man', which is a theme song of the musical 'Fiddler on the Roof'. Everybody was shouting for joy when watching his witty parody of the musical. Mr. Joseph YOUNG sang the songs with his guitar 'Old Love' by Lee Moon Se and 'Wonderful Tonight' by Eric Clapton.
After singing these romantic songs, he sang 'Kimchi Blues'. The last stage was Salsa dance by H.E. Aram Cisneros and Mrs. Beatrice Dierckx with the music 'Amor narcotico'.
They were a super fantastic combi at the stage and the audiences felt as if they were in Latin America right at that moment. After the talent show case, we had the lucky draw time. Special thanks again to Didier BELTOISE, Jay Hyuk SHIM, Youngwon CHOE, Ki Taek JEONG, CHOI Jungwha, Gee Chan KWON, Isabelle KANG CHOI, Young Joo LEE, So Eun PARK, Jee Yeon KIM, Ju Hyun MENG for sponsoring and congratulations to all the lucky winners.
CICI would like to express our gratitude to all the participants for achieving 100% perfect attendance and special thanks to Mrs. Mi Kyung Claire HONG for hosting and Mrs. Hyang Ok Jade LIM for simultaneous translation. We look forward to seeing you at the opening ceremony of Korea CQ 17 on February 27, 2014. Thank you very much. Sincerely,
Chairman of Korea CQ Alumni Association, SHIM Jay Hyuk President of CICI, CHOI Jungwha
