Dear Korea CQ members, On April 21, Korea CQ April’s Wine Club was held at Premier European Cuisine, Gastro Tong located at Seochon. April's wine club was held by us(Christophe Piganiol & Mark Chung), the new Presidents of Korea CQ Wine Club. Patrick Defranoux, Nathalie Defranoux, Johan Vandromme, Susan Ling, Samia Mounts, Yuni Chung, Min Sun Park, Hyung Taek Hong, Soeun Park, Hyuk Jin Suh, Joohyun Ha, Didier Beloise, Jungwha Choi , Yon Cusick, Reberto Mauro, Ilaria Mauro, Joern Elbracht, Julia Elbracht attended this event. Members arrived at Gastro Tong, which has a warm atmosphere reminiscent of a European home, and shared stories with each other during the reception while enjoying the citrusy Bouvet Ladubay Saphir Brut 2012. Dinner commenced with a welcome remark from Mark Chung, one of the new presidents of the wine club, and members enjoyed the amuse bouche of sweet potato blinis with salmon and tuna tartar with champagne. Members enjoyed the tastily prepared main dishes; snail a la provencal with prosciutto and chilli, olive flounder with tumeric, braised veal with morel mushroom sauce. In this wine club, 2 different wines, Gerard Boulay “Monts Dammes” Sancerre Chavignol 2008 and Chateau des Tours Cotes du Rhone Reserve 2009, were served at the same time with the menu. Members compared the harmony between each wine and dish, and had a pleasant time sharing their opinions regarding their preferences. During dinner, there was a playful discussion comparing French and Italian wine. Also, Samia Mounts, an old friend of Korea CQ who is visiting Seoul for a few weeks, joined us and exchanged warm greetings and heartwarming talks. Following the main dish, whipped brie cheese with cumin red fruit dressing was served with Chateau Fombrauge B.Magrez 2001 which tasted of black fruit and cherry. Dinner ended with banana ice cream, crepes and chocolate sauce with the soft tasting, apple flavored Chateau du Breuil Calvados V.S.O.P. We sincerely appreciate all participants for making our wine club more enjoyable and give special thanks to Roland Hini and Yeongshim Kim, the co-president of Gastro Tong, for their consideration and warm hospitality and great food. We would like to announce that the next wine club will be held on June 16th, supported by Bill Miner, country chairman of Chevron.
