Dear Korea CQ members,

From October 18 to 19, Korea CQ members visited Jeollabuk-do Gochang-gun, the city which is renowned for its nature, history, and tradition.

Although we gathered in the early hours of Saturday morning, Francois Provost, Amelie Provost, Shim Jay Hyuk, Young Joseph and his daughter, Kim Suk Bu, Hwang Sherry Sungwon, Didier Beltoise, Meng Juhyun, Choi Jungwha, Cho Kurie, Park So Yoon, Chung Mark, Chung Yuni, Lee Hyun Ju, our special guest Bill Miner, CEO of Chevron Korea, and Lissa Miner were punctual at the meeting point, without any delay.

All participants safely ride a bus specially which was offered by Maeil Dairies, and the bus headed for Gochang smoothly.

When the bus arrived in Gochang and Maeil Dairies’ Sangha factory, Kim Seon Hee, the CEO of Maeil Dairies and our host, warmly greeted each member.

We stayed and looked around Beopseong-po, a place with a unique and wonderful atmosphere presented by Indonesian culture, appreciated the beautiful sunset on Baeksu coastal road, and moved to the Korean restaurant ‘Misil’ for dinner.

At dinner, we tasted Korean food and Raspberry wine, a specialty of Gochang. With ‘Chung Ba Ji’ toast of Shim Jay hyuk, the atmosphere got more enjoyable. After having wonderful dinner, we took a rest and good sleep at ‘Healing County’

On the flowing day with bright sunshine, Korea CQ members had Korean Soup (Dried Pollack )& rice and bread (croissant) for breakfast and moved to Gochang

Our members were surprised to look heritages, life style, and Dolmen culture of Bronze Age, looking around exhibition halls and 3D theater with marvel. What is more, we took ‘Moro Moro’ train, which helped us have a close look at dolmen and take a special picture nearby it.

After touring the Dolmen Musuem, we had Bibimbap, the representative food of Jeollabuk-do, and Korean pancake for lunch at Korea restaurant, a place where we could enjoy a pleasant atmosphere. As we were full, we walked ahead to Seon-un temple.

We walked along with the maple street and arrived Seon-un temple, and Jin Young monk came to meet us and kindly explained the history and meaning of the temple.

Besides, we had a valuable opportunity to meet Chief Monk of Seon-un temple.

The chief monk prepared and served fermented green tea for us.

During an hour, he told us about how he became a monk. Additionally, he advised us how we, as human beings, are constantly exposed to anguish and how to live wisely. It was very useful time for everyone.
