I hope you are having a great day.

On March 25, Korea CQ visited the residence of Ireland ambassador located in Seongbuk-dong.

The members who participated are H.E. The forum started with a welcoming speech from H.E. Aingeal O'donoghue. Then we all watched a beautiful clip of Ireland. The video captured the beauty of Ireland so well that all members attended yesterday said they would love to visit Ireland.

Then we had time to enjoy food organized by H.E. Aingeal O'donoghue. Dinner started with the Beef Bourguignon with Carrots and Mashed Potatoes, then special Ireland cheeses (Durrus Farmhouse Cheese, Cashel Blue, Coolea) were served. 3 cheeses went well with wine and made our dinner so perfect. Also H.E. Aingeal O'donoghue prepared small cute Irish whisky for every members. Thank you Her Excellency.

For the dessert members had marinated Strawberries Vanilla Ice Cream. After that, we all watched the farewell video for Korea CQ 15 member Mr. Vincent Bernard, Country General Manager of Christian Dior couture Korea and Mrs. Eve Law-Thime, BNP Paribas.

Like what CEO of Cs, Mr. Didier Beltoise said, "once friend, forever friend", we will all remember you!

Later on, we all listened to the lecture of Dr. Hong Youngjae. Dr. Hong was selected 7 times as one of the distinguishing doctors in the ‘50 noted doctors’. However, he found out third stage colorectal cancer and renal cell carcinoma in 2001.

Dr. Hong Miraculously recovered from cancer after long 8 hours of surgery, and started to eat cheonggukjang which is known for its effect in anticancer. Since, Dr. Hong is working broadly as the preacher of cheonggukjang.

He explained good foods in 6 colors. Red, Yellow & Orange, Green, White and Purple. His lecture was easy to understand and adjust to everyday living. By listening, all members understood the importance of good health.

As the end of the lecture, coffee and Hangwa, specially prepared for CQ members from Grandmaster of Hangwa Kim Kyu-Heun. 6 years-old ginseng hangwa and sesame hangwa were so delicious that many members took them in their purse to share with others.

We thank you to all of our members who made the night more enjoyable and especial thanks go to H.E. Aingeal O'donoghue for  her hospitality, preparing delicious food and small gifts to all our members.

Theories of Aging

:  "Why do people age?" is an ongoing debate and there are many researches being done to propose theories for aging.

1.    Telomere theory: The telomere theory of ageing claims that cellular senescence is a result of telomere shortening, whereby the chromosomal telomere shortens with each cell cycle until its length reaches a critical threshold, by which the cell senesces and dies.

2.  The overall response of the nervous and endocrine system to stimuli weakens.

3. “Wear-and-tear Theory: Living itself ages all.

4. Our body builds up so many toxins and other waste products that our systems shut down and the structure of our genes can be affected.

5. Free Radical Theory of Aging: our body builds up free radical oxidants that damage our organs and DNA à causing aging.

6. Glucose Toxicity Theory: This theory proposes that continual exposure to modest increases in blood glucose over a long period of time could have adverse effects on aging.

7. Theory of Caloric Restriction : Under nutrition can dramatically retard the functional, if not the chronological aging process.

Eat well, live young

When waste is accumulated constantly in the body, it can cause cancer. Thus, excretion is very important. It is very important to eat dietary fiber food. (sweet potato, potato, corn, spinach, apple, tomato, carrot, onion, pine mushroom).

Cancer cells grow in everyone and everybody

When early cancer cell occurs, autoimmune system is designed to kill the cancer cell. But, when our body fails, cancer cell remains and forms colony. It eventually becomes cancer and threat peoples lives.

Eating habit to protect our bodies

People mostly think that eating a lot of meat can cause cancer, but that is not true. Boiled meat and steamed meat is good for our health.

But, burned meat and barbequed meat kill the elements that prohibit cancer, so it is better to avoid it.

Q&A

Q1. Could you explain the correlation between alcohol and health?

Jean-Manuel Spriet, CEO of Pernod Ricard Korea

A: When people think about alcohol, they believe drinking alcohol is bad. However, when we go to the village of longevity, people there drink 5~6 glasses of soju everyday with a meal. Drinking alcohol too much is harmful but if consumed moderately, it helps blood circulation. Another controversial topic: people say smoking is bad, but if smoking could release stresses, the benefits it brings to mental health could be greater than its harm to certain people.

Q1.  You talked a lot about the food and health, then how about the exercise?

Young Joseph, Head, Business development of Bereau Veritas Korea

A: I exercise minimum 2hour and 30min every day. Exercising is essential and critical for everyones health. There is definitely a big difference between people who exercise and who don't.
