Title CCF 2015 Epilogue

CCF 2015

CCF(Culture Communication Forum) aims to communicate with the world by offering essential Korean culture experience invited 15 cultural leaders from 15 different countries.


DAY1


The autumn sky was high and clear, welcoming the delegates from abroad.
On August 31
st, we started off our day by riding Artee pedicab to tour historical downtown areas in Seoul such as Bukchon and Insa-dong.

The delegates enjoyed the beauty of Seoul’s historic past by wandering down narrow alleys that offers opportunities to experience rich Korean traditional culture and arts.


After enjoying the lotus in the Jogyesa Temple, participants turned their steps toward the next destination.

Food is important in understanding culture. Our delegates enjoyed Korean traditional cuisine at Mugunghwa at Lotte Hotel.


We all appreciated a spectacular view of Mt. Bukhan and downtown Seoul, and enjoyed the authentic Korean cuisine with a modern flair.

After having a good lunch, we headed to the Korean Furniture Museum!


Our delegates were unfamiliar with the wooden furniture at first, but later they couldn't take their eyes off from the delicate beauty of wooden furniture.


Then, the delegates visited Hyundai Card head office!

Listening to a presentation from a staff at Hyundai Card, we could see that the company runs its business based on design and have a very astounding welfare system for its employees.


Especially the ‘Card Factory’ looks like a work of installation art not just a mere factory. 


The first day ended with dinner at Congdu.

Everyone was pleased to have delicious food which used soybean-based sauces, a fundamental ingredients of Korean cuisine. The Open ceiling at Congdu was amazing.


DAY2

On the second day, the delegates started by touring Gangnam, the prime area of the south of Seoul, most known to foreigners as the song title of Psy’s Music Video ‘Gangnam Style’, which had over 2.3 billion viewers on YouTube.  


Then, the delegates visited National Ggak Center to learn and perform Korean traditional percussion instrument, Janggu.

The delegates were impressed by the perfect rhythm of samulnori, Korean traditional percussion music.


After they enjoyed Korean cuisine at BICENA,

They headed to the National Museum of Korea to see the Korean art and the Korean history.


As experts in Art, all our delegates appreciated the beauty of Korea and fell in love with Korean beauty.

Then, the delegates visited the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.  


They were interested to learn about Korean contemporary art and artworks from other sophisticated artworks from overseas in different time period.

The second dinner at Woonsan was amazing and we could realize how simple and delicious traditional Korean food is.

Our next destination after dinner was Changdeokgung Palace for the wonderful moonlight tour.


Visiting the palace at night was a very unique experience; the delegates walked around the palace holding the Korean traditional lantern "Cheongsachrong".

At night, impressive performances such as Sanjo Dance and Pan So Ri at Yeongyung-dang were exclusively provided for our CCF delegates.


As time went by, the delegates found themselves becoming more familiar with the Korean culture.


DAY3

The 3rd day of CCF started with a grand discussion with 15 delegates from all over the world.


The topic of discussion was ‘Cultural Combustion in the Smart Age’. They agreed with the idea of fusing tradition and modern in order for culture to flourish in digital era.

We hope our cultural representatives to lead and support our world to become more culturally abundant.

The Highlight of CCF 2015 was the CCF Night.


After the welcoming speech by Prof. Choi Jungwha, President of CICI, H.E. Han Seung-soo, Former Prime Minister, H.E. Yoo Il-ho, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and H.E. Mark W. Lippert, United States Ambassador gave congratulatory speech respectively.

A huge thanks to Mickey Kim, the Director of Google, for interview.

 

After dinner, there was a wonderful violin solo, ‘With Love’ by Korean folk duo Sunflower, of Mr. Rob Moose, U.S. delegate and the twice Grammy Award Winner.

Last but not least, thanks to the Westin Chosun hotel for providing fantastic Hansik dinner.


Do you remember the Japanese Guitarist and Japanese delegate of CCF 2014, Jiro Yoshida?

 

Korean representative of CCF 2015 Nah Youn Sun, Jazz Vocalist and Jiro Yoshida performed together. All of the participants sang ‘Arirang’, a Korean traditional folk song together.

At last, there was the time for lucky draw that everybody had been waiting for so long started.

After the participation of 3 days CCF event, the delegates expressed that they had an unforgettable experience and have made cherishing memories about the Korean culture, and they appreciated the cultural aspect of being all together.


Moreover, delegates eagerly promised to work as bridge builders to spread the Korean culture to the rest of the world.
