Dear Korea CQ members, I hope you are having a lovely day. On June 13, Korea CQ Summer Welcoming Alumni Gathering & CQ 23 Graduation was held at Grand Hyatt Seoul. CQ members dressed in Blue and White, the dress code of the evening, arrived on time and had time to catch up with each other with a glass of champagne. The gathering started with a welcoming speech by President Choi Jungwha. Then, participants watched a short video clip introducing CICI and Korea CQ 23 so that members could look back at the enjoyable memories, while prospective Korea CQ 24 members could learn what CICI and Korea CQ does to promote Korean culture to the world. Next, members watched a farewell video for H.E Elisabeth Bertagnoli, who first joined us in Korea CQ 18 and stayed a member up until this term's Korea CQ 23 program, and is leaving Korea soon. Through the video, all CQ members could see that she is one of the most passionate CQ supporters. Following the video, H.E Elisabeth Bertagnoli delivered a beautiful farewell speech, reminiscing past CQ forums. We then commenced the Korea CQ 23 graduation and the award ceremony to recognize those who passionately participated in Korea CQ 23 forums to learn about Korean culture and to exchange different cultures. Mr. Christophe Piganiol, President of Zuellig Pharma Korea, was awarded the Korea CQ Friendship Award. Simon Lee, CEO of Flitto, received the Korea CQ Wing Award. Last but not least, the Grand Award was given to H.E. Clare Fearnley, the New Zealand ambassador. Congratulations to all of the awardees. After the ceremony, H.E. Clare Fearnley, New Zealand ambassador, and Ms. Euna Park, Public Diplomacy ambassador, gave warm-hearted toasts and the dinner began. Members had a very pleasant dinner Grand Hyatt Seoul had prepared for the evening. As the delicious dinner came to an end, Ms. Joohyun Ha, CEO of NAOS Korea, introduced Esthederm brand. Ms. Ha prepared Esthederm mini-sets for all participants. Following that, members enjoyed a lucky draw teaser, and shared good news and congratulated each other. Through the quiz night, we could feel the members’ passion towards Korea CQ 23 Forums and their affection to the world culture. Ms. So Eun Park, Caudalie Korea Country GM, was the winner of the quiz night. Following the Quiz Night, participants played “Guess the Word!” game where each team leader had to what the given word is by listening to the descriptions given by their team members not using taboo words. Members were separated by tables into six teams, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Purple, and Pink and participated in the game very passionately. After the heated rounds, Ms. So Eun Park ‘s Red Team won the “Guess the Word!” game. Next, participants had Noraebang Time, the highlight of the night’s event. H.E. Wei Kiat Yip, Singaporean ambassador, kicked off the session by singing a Korean song “Namchon,” showing off his singing ability he practiced in Diplomats’ Choir. Next, Ms. Sherry Sungwon Hwan livened up the mood with "Fly me to the moon." Following that, Mr. Christophe Piganiol sung “This nearly was mine” from the musical “South Pacific” and Mr. Byeong Eon Lee sung Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight." Ms. Ian Jeong sung “Quando men vo,” an Italian aria from the Opera “La Boheme” and “Nella Fantasia” by Ennio Morricone in a beautiful dress with stunning stage manners. Lastly, H.E. Raul S. Hernandez, Philippine Ambassador, impressed the listeners with his deep and sonorous voice by singing “She”. After the vote for the best performer, the winner of Noraebang Time turned out to be Ms. Ian Jeong sung “Quando men vo” and “Nella Fantasia”. The best dressers of the day were Mr. Gee Chan Kwon with his stylish white jacket and Ms. Sherry Sungwon Hwang with beautiful blue & white dress. Lastly, participants had lucky draw time. Congratulations for all the winners.
