Our Korea CQ 16
members had a visit to the Seoul
museum located in Buamdong on Satuday, October 12.
Many of our members
including Kim Kwiyeon, Park Hee Sung, Yun Yuh-soon, Lee Namsik and his spouse,
Jeong Ian, Choi Jungwha, Hong Mi Kyung, Didier Beltoise, Francois Provost, Amelie Provost, H.E Omar Nahar, Jim
Bemowski, Susanne Bemowski, Etienne Rolland-Piegue, Pascale Buch attended the tour.
Along with the
beautiful autumn weather, President
Ahn Byung-gwang welcomed all of our members with his big smile upon our arrival, then we proceeded to Seokpajeong, the historic villa of Prince Regent Heungseon.
Before moving to the Museum, we listened to a talk about the history of the
place and had a look at the old pine trees and
elephant rock on the Inwang Mountain.
In Seoul Museum,
there was an exhibition called ‘Jesus and the deaf lamb’,
celebrating the 100th years of
birth of Kim Ki-chang, who painted the portrait of King Sejong the Great. (The King on Korea's 10,000 won bill)
Members
were all amazed by Kim's
painting which collaborated the
traditional art with the modern
art. Kim Ki-chang drew the painting
'The Last Supper' in Korean version, portraying Jesus with white durumagi
clothes wore in the Joseon Dynasty Period. Surprisingly, although the picture was depicted in Korean style, our members
were able to guess who Judah is in the Kim's version.
President
Ahn Byung-gwang told us how he started to collect Lee Jung Seop's painting
"The Bull".
After looking
around the museum, members all went to eat mandutguk and nokdu-jeon at the
Buamdong’s
famous restaurant ‘Jaha sonmandoo’. Due to the
generousity from the President
of Kaywon school of Are& design, Lee Namsik, members all had a delicious lunch. We thank again to President Lee for his great hospitality and generosity.
We also want
to thank Ms. Hong Mi Kyung for
her interpretation and thank all members who participated in the Saturday’s forum.
Thank you
again.
Sincerely,
|
