2016 Culture Communication Forum: World culture leaders on how to share K-culture

From watching performances, to field trips through ancient palaces and museums.
Twenty cultural leaders from all around the world, ranging from journalists, musicians, and renowned artists, were invited to the seventh annual Culture Communication Forum.
The event was hosted by the Corea Image Communication Institute to showcase the essence of Korean culture, and promote a positive image of the Korea to the world.
After taking in Korean culture for a couple days, the delegates gathered on Tuesday, eager to share and discuss their experiences.

(FRENCH)
“Regarding food culture, Korea and France share similarities in terms of their rich history and tradition. That’s why as a chef, I’m proud to be French of Korean descent, living in France.”

Many of the delegates appreciated the vibrancy of Korean culture, commenting on how Korea successfully integrated the cultural legacy of the past with the modern world.
Yet the recently retired prima donna of Korean ballet, Kang Sue-jin, said this success poses yet another challenge.

(KOREAN)
“In this fast-paced, ever-changing world, no one can stop change from happening. It’s important not to lose one’s uniqueness. Or else, everything will be the same. It’s boring.
We need to work alongside with other countries, but while rediscovering and appreciating our own color.”

Some delegates said they'd never considered bringing their own family to Korea for vacation, but that's now changed.
However, they emphasized that's only because they had the chance to visit themselves. Korea should continue to send a message to the world, they said that there's more to the country than barbecue, high tech, and Gangnam style.

(ENGLISH)
"But the rest of the world has a role to play as well, in being open, and stepping outside of our stereotypes and boundaries and our prejudices, and our barriers. So we can actually be better people.”

(STAND UP)
The 7th Culture Communication Forum has provided a platform for delegates from all over the world to experience and connect with Korean culture. And now, Korea has been given the grand task of continuing to harness both tradition and the future, to pass on K-culture to the next generation.
