Grand Hilton Seoul will strengthen the MICE industry
The number of conference trip to Korea and incentive tourists attracted by the Korea Tourism Organization last year decreased by 25.1% from 272,717 in 2016 to 200,250. However, corporate meetings and incentive tourists excluding China accounted for 185,222 people, an increase of 26.1% over the previous year. The Korea Tourism Organization is seeking to diversify its market by holding attracting conferences from other countries.
In the Gangbuk area of Seoul, Grand Hilton Seoul is named as a MICE specialty hotel. It is hosting
various international conferences, forums, and events such as
government-sponsored events, international travel marts, or wedding fairs to keep
pace with the development of international MICE industry. Grand Hilton Seoul
has a history of winning several awards for contributing to the development of
the Korean MICE industry through these events. Following this milestone, in
2018, the 30th anniversary of its founding, it is planning to further
strengthen the MICE industry and expand its customer service.
관광공사가 지난해 유치한 방한 기업회의, 인센티브 관광객은 20만2501명으로 2016년 27만277명 대비 25.1% 감소했다. 그러나 중국 지역을 제외한 기업회의, 인센티브 관광객은 18만5222명으로 2016년 대비 26.1% 증가했다. 관광공사는 올해 1월 방한 무슬림 단체로는 최대 규모인 말레이시아 하이오 그룹의 1200명 기업 회의 단체를 유치하는 등 시장 다변화를 꾀하고 있다.
2001년 호텔 건물과 별도로 컨벤션센터를 오픈해 국제회의와 의학회 및 각종 콘퍼런스 등을 유치했다. 컨벤션 센터 규모는 최대 2500명까지 수용 가능하다. 일산 킨텍스 다음으로 규모가 크다.
