On February 8, Korea CQ watched ‘The Banquet’ performance which contains the past and present of Korean dance, ranging from traditional court dance and movements from religious rituals to folk dance, all renewed in their new look in the four seasons.
 
Members participated were H.E. Elisabeth Bertagnoli, Bill Miner, Lissa Miner, Dae Jung Kim, Jae Chul Sung, Seung Jae Yoo, Uloff Muenster, Patricia Muenster, James Park, Myung Hee Oh, Young Joo Lee, Jake Kim, Yang Sup Shim, Su Mi Jang, Francoise Lewalle, Kwiyeon Kim, Erwan Vilfeu, Jungwha Choi and Didier Beltoise.
 
Before the watching ‘The Banquet,’ members had dinner at the ‘Sun and Moon’ restaurant located at Daloreum Grand Theater in the National Theater and had time to catch up with other members.



During the dinner, Hosang Ahn, CEO of the National Theater of Korea visited and greeted CQ members. 


 
After the dinner, members took the group pictured at Haeoreum Grand Theater and enjoyed ‘The Banquet.’


 
‘The Banquet’ contains the Korean dance ranging from traditional court dance and movements from religious rituals to folk dance. The wide variety includes the graceful court dance repertory Jeonpyehuimun, movements in Buddhist ritual seungmu, Jangguchum with double-headed drum, one of the leading folk dance routines.
 
CQ members admired the Sintaepyeongmu with 56 dancers, the true highlight of the performance.
 
‘The Banquet’ presents the dignified and noble spirit of Korean sunbi, aristocratic gentlemen. The controlled beauty and aesthetics of emptiness in their art works are brought on stage as a form of modernity of our time.
 
The audiences gave a standing ovation and applauded for the movements from royal court, religious folk dances in the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter which was choreographed by Heung-dong Cho and directed by Ku-ho Jung.

On February 21, Korea CQ will be having a lecture on ‘Oriental Beauty, Orchid’ by Chung Lee, CEO of Lee Won Orchids Nursery. We are looking forward to our members’ active participation.
