Dear Korea CQ members, I hope you are having a pleasant day. On November 1, Korea CQ visited ‘House of Dior’, the 6-floor flagship boutique where one can see everything of Dior. Kim Myung Ja, Ha Joohyun, Lee Young Joo, Patrick Defranoux, Nathalie Degranoux, Ellen Kim, Go Youngha, Sherry Hwang, Jeong Ian, Lissa Miner, Lee Hyun Ju, Park Soeun, Song Sieun, Choi Jungwha, Didier Beltoise, Jeong Tea Nam, and Jason Lee attended this forum. Before the visiting ‘House of Dior,’ members had dinner at the nature kitchen ‘Market O’ and tasted the delicious Avocado Egg Salad, Beef & Mushroom Risotto, Shrimp Rose Pasta and Eggplant & Zucchini Ratatouille Gratin with Penne. After dinner, members moved to ‘House of Dior,’ where visitors can explore fashion accessories, leather goods, shoes, and perfumes as well as the art gallery and café at the top floor. Mr Jason Lee, President of Christian Dior, greeted CQ members at the ‘House of Dior,’ and members enjoyed the ‘Ruinart Champaign,’ that president Lee specially prepared for Korea CQ, at the private lounge of the store. ‘House of Dior’ was created by architect Christian de Portzamparc, the winner of Pritzker Awards in 1994, and Peter Marino. The building's white color and fluid structure was inspired by fabrics, shapes, and movement of Dior's haute couture dress, resembling immense lengths of fabric. At the Homme floor, the largest store for men’s wear of Dior in the world which has a theme of ‘Simple & Contemporary,’ members learned that grey is the signature color of Dior because it matches with various fabrics, patterns and colors. Members also appreciated that every floor has many art pieces, including a suspended sculpture by Korean artist Lee Bul on the lobby floor. Everyone was also impressed by the staircase which is conceived as an unfurling ribbon that guides shoppers to the women’s ready-to-wear collections, leather goods, shoes, jewelry, watches and perfumes as well as to the Dior Homme space. Korea CQ members were deeply moved by Christian Dior’s philosophy that ‘the most beautiful sculpture is women’s body,’ and they learned that the flower and butterfly, the main subjects of Dior, means ‘Women’s happiness.’ Members enjoyed the VIP lounge and gallery which were decorated with drawings by Austrian artist Lucas Zallmann and a sculpture by Carmelo Tedeschi, then, appreciated the 123 pieces of Dior’s original haute couture with ‘White & Grey,’ ‘Pink & Red’ and ‘Green & Blue’ sections. At this place, members found out the colors were given equal importance to fabric and line for Christian Dior. Lastly, members looked around café where pastry chef extraordinaire Pierre Herme developed an exclusive offering for the ‘House of Dior.’ Francois Hollande, the President of France, also stayed in this place for 2 hours when he visited Korea. We thank President Jason Lee for letting us have unforgettable memory and experience ‘Dior’s Spirit’ at the House of Dior. We also wish to thank all CQ members who attended the tour. On November 8, Korea CQ will have a lecture on ‘Beauty of Lacquered Hanji’ at the residence of Singaporean ambassador. We are looking forward to our members’ active participation. Thank you again for your continuing support. Best wishes, Korea CQ Nayun Shin For more picutres, please click: https://goo.gl/photos/78mqTUgCKXs95yZ99 |
